Aldene Delores Avery, 95, of East Grand Forks, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Valley Eldercare of Grand Forks.

Aldene Delores Lenes was born, July 25, 1923 in Gonvick, MN to Joseph Alvin Lenes and Otelia Quern Lenes. After graduating from Gonvick High School, Aldene moved with friends to Bremerton, WA to work at Boeing during WWII. There she met Charles Rex Avery and the two were married December 20, 1945. They lived in Washington and California before moving back to make their home in East Grand Forks. She worked in food services at UND and was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in East Grand Forks.

Survivors include her daughter Darlene Hettwer of Grand Forks; son Dean (Lori) Avery of Tyner, NC; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband C. Rex Avery on October 15, 1992, son Robert Avery on May 8, 2016, brother Ray Lenes, sister Lorraine Hushagen, son-in-law Michael Hettwer, and great-granddaughter Paige Dyan Avery.
