Benjamin Garcia, 90, of East Grand Forks passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.

Ben Garcia was born April 18, 1930 in Elmore, MN to the late Pablo and Josepha (Alcala) Garcia. Ben started working when he was 8 years old and didn't officially stop until he was 83 years old; when he finally retired for the last time. He has had numerous careers throughout his life, including enlisting in the United States Army when he was 18 years old and fighting in the Korean War. He married Shelley Rose Basol on August 20, 1973 in South Dakota. Together they traveled and lived in many places around the US before settling in East Grand Forks, MN where they made their home.

He is survived by his sisters Irene, Irma, Isabell, his brother Frank, children Paul(Cindy Jo); Cynthia(Jim), Nathan, Patricia(Neil), Diana, Bonita, Sonya, Blanca(Michael), Bobby, Beata(Manuel), and Sam; Beloved and blessed with 32 grandchildren, Kris, Kasie, Billy, Brandi, April, Astara, Adora, Nathan, Nanika, Theodore Jr., Lito, Shea, Kyle, Sonyanita, Santiago, Anthony, Emily, Adelita, Lydia, Selina, Sasha, Ilaije, Gerry, Biko, Cre, Michael, Michelle, Isaac, MaryJane, Shelby, Paisley, Cameren. He is blessed with 48 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers-in-laws Mike(Laurie) & Steve, sister-in-law Lori(Terry)

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Marjorie, father-in-law Norman, wife Shelley earlier this year, brothers Felix and Silver, sister-in-laws Joyce and Mary Jo, brothers-in-laws Paul, Lupe, and Earl.

Funeral:  11:30 AM, Friday, November 20, 2020 at Dahl Funeral Home, 2029 Central Ave. NW, East Grand Forks, MN 56721

Graveside Service: 2:00 PM Friday, November 20, 2020 at Fargo National Cemetery with Military Honors.
