Christopher R. Metcalf , age 50 of East Grand Forks, MN, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023 after battling cancer and pneumonia.

Christopher Robert Metcalf was born on January 9, 1973 in Grand Forks, ND to Howard & Delores "Lollie" Metcalf. Chris grew up in East Grand Forks, MN. He attended Sacred Heart School before getting his diploma from the Job Core in 1991. After graduating, he moved to Washington State where he worked as a laborer at a steel mill. Chris moved back to East Grand Forks following the flood of 1997. Chris began working at the Sugar Beet Plant for Harvest, and he also had various construction jobs until he suffered an accidental head injury that left him partially disabled. Despite some challenges, he continued to work part-time.

Chris was an animal lover – he enjoyed caring for family pets and often shared his own food with them. Chris loved doing puzzles & crosswords and enjoyed the TV Classics. He was always talking with his brothers on the phone any chance he had. Chris had a big heart and would help anyone who needed it. He could be stubborn at times, but he was a loveable person.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Howard & Delores Metcalf; brother, Scott Brown; brother-in-law, Doug Mondor; and his grandparents. He is survived by his siblings, Edward "Lars" (Linda) Brown of Spring Lake Park, MN, Laurie (Curt) Moen of East Grand Forks, MN, Janine (Doug) Mondor of East Grand Forks, MN, Tina Metcalf of Grand Forks, ND, Fred Metcalf of Fosston, MN, Betty Metcalf of Emerado, ND, and Jim Metcalf of East Grand Forks, MN; sister-in-law, Janet Brown of Crookston, MN; and many nieces & nephews.

Funeral Service is 11:00a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2023 at Dahl Funeral Home, 2029 Central Ave NW, East Grand Forks, with Visitation 1 hour prior. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery in East Grand Forks.
