Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Cole Jenkins on Thursday, August 8, 2024. He was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, and friend.

Cole was born on December 16, 1989 to Donny and Dawn (Moen) Jenkins in Grand Forks, ND. He graduated from East Grand Forks High School in 2008, where he met many lifelong friends.

On June 14, 2014, he married the love of his life, Tara Markstrom. Together, they built a beautiful family and were blessed with four wonderful children: Landen, Piper, Jack, and Elsie.

Cole had a passion for farming beginning at the age of 15 when he started working for Krejci Farms. He later continued his farming career at Amundson and was affectionately nicknamed "Hawkeye" for his exceptional ability to troubleshoot and find problems when working on equipment. He also enjoyed spending time on the tractor, finding peace and satisfaction in the work. Evenings were often spent cruising in the Ranger checking fields and catching frogs with his kids, creating treasured moments and lasting memories. Above all, Cole's children were his greatest passion. He dedicated himself to their happiness and growth, always putting their needs first and cherishing every moment spent with them.

Cole was known for his incredible ability to fix anything. He spent countless hours in the garage tinkering and working on various projects. He also had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. From a young age, Cole developed a passion for hockey, a love that he shared with his siblings, parents and children. He even built a rink in their backyard and spent countless hours on the ice with them, creating cherished memories.

Cole's friends were also an important part of his life. He valued their companionship and the many adventures they shared. His life was marked by his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and friends. He will be remembered for his infectious smile and his ability to bring joy to those around him.

He is survived by his wife, Tara; their children, Landen, Piper, Jack, and Elsie; his mother, Dawn Jenkins; his siblings, Holly (Garritt) Benjamin, Heidi Jenkins, and Casey Jenkins; his grandmother, Connie Moen; his nephews, Noah (Taylor) and Elijah Benjamin; and his niece, Kahri (Harmon) Benjamin. He is also survived by a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Cole was preceded in death by his father, Donny Jenkins; his grandparents, Pete and Delores Jenkins; grandfather, Ervin Moen; his uncle, Dana Moen; and his aunt, Lynne Jenkins.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Cole's life on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 11:00 am at Dahl Funeral Home in East Grand Forks, with visitation an hour prior and lunch to follow at the Eagles.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Suicide Awareness-TEARS (1665 Nordonna Circle, GF, ND 58201)

Cole's kindness, dedication, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but we take comfort in knowing he is in peace.
