Darlene Paulette Ruthenberg, 81, of East Grand Forks, MN  died Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at the Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. under the care of Hospice.

Darlene Ruthenberg was born December 15, 1942 in Nielsville, MN the daughter of Obert and Carol (Aalgaard) Orvik.  She grew up and attended school in Nielsville, MN and high school in Halstad, MN  She married the love of her life, Roger Ruthenberg in Shelly, MN on August 15, 1958.  She worked as the city Clerk for the City of Nielsville for many years.

Roger and Darlene loved to travel in the USA and Canada. They spent many winters in Florence AZ and summers at Maple Lake. Darlene loved to cross stitch, quilt, bake, flower gardening and being with her grandchildren and family.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Sandra (Elroy) Hedde of Buxton, ND and Debra (Bruce) Sondrol of Lake City, MN, 4 grandchildren: Robyn Lafferty, Melissa Adreon, Megan Kruger and Jacquelyn Hedde, 12 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, and brother Larry (Jan) Orvik of Crookston, MN and sister-in-law Judy Orvik.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Roger in 2008 and brother John Orvik

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the Salem Lutheran Church, Cummings, ND.

VISITATION: 1 hour before services at the church.

INURNMENT: St. Petri Cemetery, Nielsville, MN.
