Darrel E. Koehler, 78, of East Grand Forks, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019 at St. Catherine's Living Center of Wahpeton, ND.

Darrel Ernest Koehler was born on August 26, 1940 in Wadena, MN, the son of Ernest and Ellen (Johnson) Koehler. He grew up in the New York Mills, MN area and graduated from New York Mills High School with the Class of 1958. Following graduation he attended the University of Minnesota and earned degrees in Agriculture, Journalism and Horticulture. On May 26, 1973 he married Peggy Peaslee at Holy Name Catholic Church of Minneapolis, MN. He worked for the Austin Daily Herald before moving to East Grand Forks where they made their home. He worked for the Grand Forks Herald until his retirement and was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church of East Grand Forks.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Peggy Koehler of East Grand Forks, daughter Ann (Trevor) Stav of Wahpeton, ND, grandsons Wyatt and Henry Stav, sister-in-law Diane Peaselee, nephews Steven and Cody Koehler, and niece Tracey Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Darlan "Skip" Koehler; brother-in-law, Steven Peaslee and a sister-in-law, Dawn Allen

Memorial Service: 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church 1515 5 ^th Ave NW, East Grand Forks, MN 56721

Visitation: 1 hour prior to memorial service on Tuesday at the church

Inurnment: Hillcrest Cemetery, Albert Lea, MN at a later time
