David L. Straus, age 74 of Grand Forks, ND passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

David Lee Straus was born on September 9, 1947 in Grand Forks, ND the son of William and Ann (Vonasek) Straus.  He lived on the family farm and attended country school.  David actually walked a mile across the field to school or biked 3 miles to school by road.  During the winter months, he would take a horse and sleigh to school.  During the summer months, he trapped gophers on the rural roads near the farm.  David graduated from Central High School in East Grand Forks, MN with the Class of 1965.  In 1966 he joined the National Guard and served until 1972.  In 1967 he graduated from Aakers Business College in Grand Forks, ND.  From 1965 to 1967 he worked on several farms. He married Jeanette Bysewski in 1971 in Grand Forks, ND.   In December of 1967 to May of 2019 he worked for Acme Electric, now Acme Tools.  He was hired as a Bookkeeper, and did purchasing, accounting, inside and outside sales.  He moved up to Store Manager.  He traveled to Europe several times with Aladdin, Honda and Stihl Companies on Advisory Councils.  On December 6, 1996 he was united in marriage to Rita Anderson in Grand Forks, ND.

Family members who survive David include his wife Rita of Grand Forks, ND; children, Jennifier (Jim) Barta, Michael Straus, Hovi (Heazlette) both of Grand Forks, ND; stepdaughter, Brandee Danks of Grand Forks, ND; stepson, Cory Danks of Minneapolis, MN; 5 grandchildren, Cade, Cole, Barta, Alex and Asher Straus all of Grand Forks, ND and Weston Danks of Minneapolis, MN; sister, Dorothy Jerik of East Grand Forks, MN along with many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; infant sister and brother-in-law, Robert Jerik.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the donor's choice in memory of David Straus.
