Delmar B. Sletten, 89, of Larimore, ND passed away Monday, September 2, 2019 at the Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND with his family by his side.

Delmar Bernhardt Sletten was born May 17, 1930 in Larimore, ND the son of Hjalmer and Hjerdis (Christiansen) Sletten. He grew up in rural Larimore, ND and attended country school each fall until winter weather required he live with his uncle and aunt in town to attend school in Larimore. He completed 8 ^th grade and became a laborer on area farms for a few years until he was able to purchase land and establish his own farm.

Delmar married Anna Marie Kegler on June 26, 1949. In 1954 he began working for American Crystal Sugar Company in East Grand Forks while continuing to farm. Delmar was an exceptionally hard worker, rarely missing a day of work. He passed this work ethic on to his nine children of whom he was extremely proud.

In 1992 Delmar purchased a cabin on Upper Red Lake where he loved to fish and spend time with family and friends. He retired from American Crystal in 1994 and from farming shortly thereafter. Delmar loved listening to waltzes and polkas on the radio.

Delmar was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Anna Marie.

He is survived by his children, Alvern (Rick) Reinhold of Arvilla, ND, Mary Brott of Larimore, Suzan (Steve) Clausen of West Fargo, Sonja (Mic) LaRoque of Detroit Lakes, MN, Martha (Duane) Petsinger of Arvilla, ND, David (Josie) Sletten of Castroville, TX, Matthew (Nichole Helmueller) Sletten of St. Paul, MN, Christian (Heaven Decoteau) Sletten of Larimore, Nicholas Sletten of St. Paul, MN, significant other Janet Menge of East Grand Forks, and her two sons, Warren (Cheryl) Menge of Cave Creek, AZ and Calvin Menge of Burnsville, MN, one brother LeRoy Sletten of Larimore, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his four legged wanna be son Lars, his chocolate lab, at home.
