Dennis O. Thompson, age 98 of East Grand Forks, MN passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Valley Senior Living on Columbia in Grand Forks, ND.

Dennis Orville Thompson was born in rural East Grand Forks, MN on June 21, 1924, the son of John and Belva (Hanstad) Thompson.  He attended school at District 31 until moving to Climax, MN in the 7 ^th grade.  He graduated from Climax High School.  Dennis farmed on the family farm until 1951.  Dennis married Mardell (Mardie) Haroldson on November 4, 1951 at United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, ND.  Dennis and Mardie moved to Seattle, WA where Dennis worked for Boeing.  In 1954 they returned to East Grand Forks, MN where Dennis worked for Rydell Chevrolet where he was in charge of Inventory Control.  Dennis retired from Rydell Chevrolet in 1989.  Dennis and Mardie delivered meals for the hospital during retirement.  Dennis was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.  Dennis's hobbies and interests included walking, gardening, his Alice Chalmers Tractor, helping neighbors, coffee time with friends and family, family gatherings and working on building projects with his sons.  Dennis will be remembered for his kindness and love for his family.

Family members who survive Dennis include his wife, Mardie of East Grand Forks, MN; children, Dale Thompson (Robin) of Grand Forks, ND, Mark Thompson (Vicki) of East Grand Forks, MN and Sheryl Lehman (Cory) of Fargo, ND; 8 grandchildren, Kari Suedel (Travis) of Grand Forks, ND, Michael Thompson (Danielle) of Plymouth, MN, Daniel Thompson (Leah) of West Fargo, ND, Jacob Von Bank (Michelle) of Fargo, ND, David Thompson (Bailey) of East Grand Forks, MN, Alexander Thompson (Megan) of Fargo, ND, Maria Flaa (Corey) of Fargo, ND and John Thompson (Ashley) of Fisher, MN; along with 11 great-grandchildren, James Suedel, Charlotte Suedel, Zachary Thompson, Eloise Thompson, Grace Thompson, Finnick Thompson, Freya Thompson, Bruer Thompson, Blair Thompson, Bella Thompson and Nora Call; sister, Bernice Johnson of Chaska, MN; and a sister-in-law, Gerri Thompson of Northwood, ND.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harry, Reuben and Irvin Thompson; and sisters, Marion Nielsen, Joyce Hutchison, and Donna Thompson.

Visitation: 1 Hour Prior Funeral Service on Monday in Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

Interment: Memorial Park South Cemetery ~ Grand Forks, ND.
