Obituary

Diane Solarski , age 59 of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, passed away at Altru Hospital on Thursday, January 16, 2025 due to the complications of cancer.

Diane was born on August 1, 1965 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to parents, Walter & Bette (Allen) Solarski. Diane grew up in East Grand Forks and was a lifelong resident. She graduated high school from Sacred Heart, class of 1984. Throughout her life, Diane worked to help others. She was a daycare provider for her neighbors, a caretaker and proud "chauffeur" for her nieces, nephews, and family, and while the kids were at school she spent time assisting her elderly family and neighbors. In 2007, she started working as a paraprofessional at East Grand Forks Senior High. Diane was dedicated to her job, her coworkers, and loved "her" kids referring to them as "my kids".  She worked there right up until the end, even going into work between chemotherapy treatments.

Diane loved spending time with her family. She loved going out to Maple Lake: jet skiing, pulling her nieces & nephews on the tube, campfires, s'mores, and getting buried in the sand. She loved playing board games and card games, and always made sure they brought them with to the lake and took them back home. Diane also loved the pool in the backyard, especially if she was with her nieces & nephews. Diane loved to go all-out on holidays and would dress up, and decorate the inside and outside of the house. She loved fireworks on the 4th of July, but would make sure to have fireworks for any time of the year they could enjoy them outside. Diane also loved cleaning and would gladly go assist her neighbors if needed. She was a giving, kind, genuine, and caring person. Diane gave the best hugs, the biggest hugs, the longest hugs. She was a dedicated aunt, sister, dog mom, and dear friend, and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter & Bette; and brother-in-law, Gary Naastad.

Diane is survived by her siblings, David Solarski, Cindy Solarski, Susie Naastad, and Kathy (Jerry) Qualley; nieces & nephews, Randy Naastad, Amy (Josh) Halle, Rachel Qualley, and Sara Qualley; great-nephews & niece, Atticus, Zygi, and Stevie; beloved dog, Bailey Girl; as well as other family members, many friends, and her school family.
