Donna Marie
Greenwood
April 13, 1941 — October 16, 2020
East Grand Forks
Donna Marie (Pribula) Greenwood was born on April 13, 1941 at St. Michael's Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. According to the receipt posted on the wall in her home, the birth cost $38. Her parents paid off this bill with $15 cash and multiple sacks of Red River potatoes.
Raymond and Marie Pribula (parents) raised Donna and her siblings on a farm near East Grand Forks, MN. Donna was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith at Holy Trinity Church, Tabor, MN. She enjoyed preparing meals in the kitchen with her mother, mixing the fewest amount of ingredients with an ample amount of love. She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in 1959 where she met the love of her life, Terry Greenwood. They were married on September 2, 1961 and were soon blessed with four daughters; Jenny, Jackie, Betsy, and Julie.
They lived in East Grand Forks where Donna worked part-time at St. Michael's Hospital. In 1974 together they built their dream home on the Red Lake River near Mallory, MN. It was a collaboration of Terry's craftsmanship as a carpenter and Donna's keen eye for decor. Throughout her life, she assisted her husband in operating his construction business and spent time painting and wallpapering, making use of her unique and talented decorating skills. Growing and arranging beautiful flowers was another talent of Donna's, from delicate little vases of flowers in her home to lovely gardens overlooking the Red Lake River.
Her family was the most important thing in her life. As her family grew, she was eager to pass down what she learned from her mother, Marie, to her daughters and grandchildren. Her grandchildren always loved and treasured their time spent with Grandma and Grandpa in the country.
As she approached the end of her life, she was cared for by her devoted husband Terry, who dedicated himself to making her comfortable as she bravely faced her journey with cancer. On October 16 th , she passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND surrounded by her loving family. Terry and Donna were happily married for 59 years.
Donna is survived by her husband, Terry, of East Grand Forks and her daughters, Jenny (Brent) Gerber of Detroit Lakes, Jackie (Dan) Brouse of Bemidji, Betsy (Dan) Kuznia of East Grand Forks, and Julie (Ray) Cota of Grand Forks. She will be missed by her grandchildren; Rachel (Paul) Meyer, Sarah Gerber, Ashley (Rob) Rebel, Emilie Brouse, Zachary (Jamie) Kuznia, Matthew Kuznia and by her great grandchildren; James Kuznia, Alphonse Kuznia, and Thea Meyer.
Her siblings Fred Pribula of East Grand Forks, Jerry (Patrice) Pribula of East Grand Forks, Kathy (Blake) Carlson of Crookston, sister-in-law Jane Pribula of East Grand Forks will treasure her memory along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and Terry's siblings and their families whom she held so dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Marie Pribula, and her dear brother, Jim Pribula.
Her memory lives on in the lives of all who loved and adored her. Her wonderful gardening skills, delicious recipes, knack for home decor, and relentless love for her friends and family will be treasured forever. Blessed be the memory of Donna Marie Greenwood.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Dahl Funeral Home, EGF, MN. Family will use memorials in honor of Donna Greenwood.
