Elsie Marlene Peterson was born on May 23, 1939, in Grand Forks, ND, the daughter of the late Otto and Nellie (Crosswaite) Peterson.  She was raised in East Grand Forks, MN, and graduated from East Grand Forks Senior High School.  On July 15, 1957, she was married to Jerome Coulter in East Grand Forks, MN.  They made a home on their farm south of Alvarado.  She was a dedicated mom and farmer's wife until their daughters left home then she went to AVTI where she earned her licenses as a Certified Nurse's Assistant and in truck driving.  She worked at the Good Samaritan in East Grand Forks, MN, and at Olson Drug Store for many years.  When Jerome was unfortunately forced to retire due to health she dedicated her time to taking care of him.  They enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and road trips across the United States with their grandchildren.  She had the ability to make friends wherever she went and was well known for her infectious laugh.  She also had a very kind heart and was an animal lover, the dogs she adopted through her life meant a lot to her.
