Elva L. LaFave , 102, passed away Friday, October 24, 2025 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND.

Elva Louise Nesdahl was born October 13, 1923 in Grand Forks, ND to Bert Martin and Myrtle Armina (Taylor) Nesdahl. She grew up in Emerado and attended Oakville one-room schoolhouse through the 8th grade. On October 20, 1945, she married Allendean W. LaFave in Grand Forks. Together they made their home in East Grand Forks where they raised their three children Linda, Allen and Kim. She then worked for Bekins and Hanson Maves Moving Co. She stayed in East Grand Forks until 1994 when she moved to Centennial, CO. Elva enjoyed being a stay-home wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the East Grand Forks VFW and American Legion Ladies Auxiliaries. She enjoyed crocheting afghans, playing cards, word searches and puzzles.

Elva is survived by her children Linda K. Bufalini, Allen (Debra) LaFave and Kim Piker; grandchildren Chad (Christine) LaFave, Deana (Jim) Pouch, Michelle (Michael) Harlow, Tammy (Ryan) Abdill and Chase (Christine) Piker; step-grandchildren Daryl Piker, DeAnn Piker, Dennis (Nisa) Piker, Denise (Dave) Gordon and Douglas Piker; great-grandchildren  Christian LaFave, Tyler Harlow, Kaydee Harlow, Emma (Ryker) Nelson, Gabe Abdill, Ivy Abdill, Carson Piker and Cameron Piker; step-great-grandchildren Jackson, Jordan and Jace Field, Kruse Otto; Adam, Aishia and Megan Piker, Alex and Caitlyn Gordon; great-great-grandchildren Skylee, Ava, Pierce, Heartlynn, Dean; and step-great-great grandchild Kayden.

She was preceded in death by her husband Allendean W. LaFave; parents Bert and Myrtle Nesdahl; siblings Dorothy Hemmer, Merle Kopecky, May "Sis" Williams, Lincoln, William "Bill", Harold "Bub", Jim, Albert, Timothy and Oliver Nesdahl; sons-in-law Dale Piker and Fred Bufalini; and great-granddaughter Paige Harvey.

FUNERAL: 1:00 PM, Monday, November 3, 2025 at Dahl Funeral Home, 2029 Central Ave. NW, East Grand Forks, MN 56721. Funeral will be live-streamed on Elva's page at www.dandahlfuneralhome.com

VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral on Monday at the funeral home.

INTERMENT: Resurrection Cemetery of East Grand Forks immediately following the funeral.
