George Roger Vasek , 90, passed Saturday, September 23, 2023 peacefully at his home. He was born August 24, 1933 on the family farm in Northland Township near Tabor, Minnesota and went to rural school. George farmed with family before entering the U.S. Army in 1954. After basic training in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, he was stationed in Europe until 1956. When George returned home, he continued his life-long love of farming. George married Marion Hettwer in 1959 and raised four children in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. He owned a potato wash plant/warehouse and farmed grain & potatoes before retiring. He enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren & great grandchildren and spoiling them with treats and runs to the Dairy Queen.

George is survived by his wife, Marion of 64 years; four children, John (Janet), Robert (Lisa), Deanne (Craig) Wavra, and Julie (Chad) Bryant; seven grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Brandon) Larsen, Alyssa, Matt, Jordan, Eric, Ryan, and Kelli; and two great-grandchildren, Camden and Theodore; sisters, Emily Rapacz (Fran), Mary Barsness; and sister-in-law, Jan Vasek. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Albina Vasek; brother, Albert; and brother-in-law, Leroy Barsness.

Visitation is 5:00-7:00 p.m., with PRAYER SERVICE at 6:30 p.m., on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Dahl Funeral Home, 2029 Central Avenue NW, East Grand Forks, Minnesota.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL is 11:00am on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 200 3rd Street NW, East Grand Forks, Minnesota, with Visitation 1 hour prior. Luncheon to follow. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery in East Grand Forks.
