Gerald A. Lizakowski, 79, of Grand Forks, passed away Friday, September 9, 2022 at Essentia Health of Fargo.

Gerald Anthony Lizakowski was born January 22, 1943 in Grand Forks, ND to the late Harry and Marjorie (Byzewski) Lizakowski. He grew up in Grand Forks and graduated from St. James High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy and served in Vietnam. On February 3, 1965, he married Catherine Briskie at St. Johns Catholic Church in Ardoch. The two made their home in Grand Forks and were blessed with five children. Jerry, as he was better known was an active member of St. Michaels church where he was a member of the choir and men's club and a member of Knights of Columbus and VFW Post 3817.  He loved to hunt, fish, take road trips all over the area, especially country dirt roads and had a way with kids, probably because he was a big kid. He loved to tell stories that may never end, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 57 years Catherine Lizakowski of Grand Forks; children Doris (Brian) Noreen of MN, Gerald Anthony Lizakowski, Jr. of Berthoud, CO, Brian Lizakowski of Grand Forks, and Michelle (Peter) Jacobson of Gilby; sister Shirley (Jerry) Stender of WI; brothers Ronnie (Sandee) Lizakowski of Detroit Lakes, MN and Jamie (Rita) Lizakowski of Moorhead, MN; five grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Marjorie, son Curtis Lizakowski, brothers David and Terry Lizakowski, and grandsons Jared Lizakowski and Travis Nelson.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 11:00 AM, Monday, September 19, 2022 at St. Michaels Catholic Church, 524 5 ^th Ave. N, Grand Forks, ND 58203

VISITATION: 1 hour prior to Mass at the church on Monday

BURIAL: Calvary Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND, with Military Honors provided by the US Navy, the East Grand Forks American Legion Post #157, and VFW Post 3817.
