Obituary

Gertrude "Trudy" Lund, age 91, of East Grand Forks, MN, passed away quietly on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, ND.

Gertrude Anderson was born on December 9, 1927, in Davidson, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Alfred and Anna (Oseth) Anderson. She was raised in Davidson and moved to Lancaster, MN, just before her senior year of high school. She graduated from Lancaster High School and then went to Aaker's Business College. She was married to Arnold Homstad in 1946 and they made their home in Lancaster where she worked as a bookkeeper for the Lancaster Creamery. She was then married to Lawrence "Larry" Lund on June 3, 1953, in Lancaster. In 1961, the family moved to Stephen, MN, and then finally to East Grand Forks, MN, in 1962, where she worked for Consolidated Construction, Furniture City, and then Coca Cola until her retirement. Trudy and Larry loved to camp at Cass Lake, MN, dance, and spend time socializing and playing cards with the neighbors in their little Lancaster section in the north end of East Grand Forks. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family and will forever be remembered for her sticky rolls. She was a wonderful maternal figure for her entire family.

Trudy is survived by her children, David (Mary Gail) Homstad of East Grand Forks, MN; Debra Lund of Lyons, CO; and William (Aimee) Lund of Avada, CO; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Dean (Karen) and Dick Anderson, both of Minneapolis, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Arnold Homstad and Larry Lund; son, Richard Lund; daughter, Susan Nygaard; parents, Alfred and Anna Anderson; brother, Robert Anderson; and sister, Doris Turner.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Valley Eldercare.
