Gladys I.  Filipi, age 96, East Grand Forks, MN passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at the Valley Senior Living Center, Grand Forks, ND.

Gladys Skavlem was born May 14, 1925 in Oslo, MN the daughter of Andrew and Annie (Hanson) Skavlem.  She married Leo Filipi on November 21, 1947 in Angus, MN

Gladys loved to cook and bake.  Her lefse, pickles, apple pie were a cherished part of the holidays for many years.  She was a magnet for babies and young children.  She loved to do embroidery and kept her mind sharp doing crossword puzzles.  She spent weekends with her beloved Leo camping, fishing and playing cards.  Faith and Service was important to Gladys.  She was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and volunteered her time delivering meals on wheels.  She will be missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were fortunate to have her in their lives for so many years leaving a lifetime of special memories of their time with her.

Gladys is survived by her 4 children: Sandra (Ken) Hutton of East Grand Forks, MN, Leo Jr. (Linda) Filipi of Moorhead, MN, Susan Filipi of Burnsville, MN and Shelley Truwe of Springfield, OR, 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Leo, and siblings, Marie Bratvold, Ruth Linquist, Edward, Arthur, Helmer, William and Andrew Skavlem and Mabel Gunderson.
