Glen "Gunner"
Gonsorowski
August 21, 1955 — October 12, 2026
Glen "Gunner" Gonsorowski, 71, passed away on October 12, 2026, in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Glen Hubert Gonsorowski was born on August 21, 1955, to Florian and Martha (Knapper) Gonsorowski. He grew up in Grand Forks and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in East Grand Forks in 1973. Following his education at Moorhead State University, Moorhead Technical College, and AVTI in East Grand Forks, he joined the family business, Florian’s Excavating.
Through hard work, determination, and integrity, Glen eventually became the owner and operator of the company, proudly carrying on the family legacy under the name Florian & Sons Excavating. Known for his honesty, generosity, strong work ethic, and independent spirit, Glen earned the respect of all who knew him.
Family meant everything to Glen. He shared a special bond with his sister, Marlene Flenner, who helped support him through health challenges in recent years. Despite his determination to remain independent, they always seemed to pick up right where they left off whenever they spoke or spent time together.
Glen also held a special place in his heart for his nephew, Isaac, who was like a son to him. Their shared love of hunting, fishing, golf, sports, and the outdoors created countless memories over the years. Isaac frequently joined him for fishing trips in the summer, hunting excursions in the fall, and visits to Arizona in later years with his own wife and children. Glen was a proud uncle and great-uncle who cherished every opportunity to spend time with his family.
Outside of work, Glen enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, softball, bowling, and spending time at Lake of the Woods, Arnesen's, Rocky Point, and Surprise, Arizona. An accomplished bowler, he rolled several perfect 300 games and was instrumental in helping establish the golf program at Sacred Heart High School. Whether enjoying the outdoors or discussing sports with family and friends, Glen treasured the simple moments in life.
A quiet philanthropist, Glen generously supported numerous charitable organizations and community causes throughout his life, including but not limited to local food shelves, holiday gift programs for children, autism-related charities, the Valley Memorial Homes Foundation, and many others. He established a scholarship at the University of North Dakota in honor of his beloved parents, Florian and Martha Gonsorowski, benefiting students in the Civil Engineering Department. As a tribute to his father, Glen was also a proud supporter of the Grand Forks Veterans Memorial Park, a cause he felt deeply compelled to support. His generosity touched countless lives and reflected his belief in giving back to the community that had given so much to him.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Florian and Martha Gonsorowski, and his brother, Al Gonsorowski.
He is survived by his brother, Dale (Duanna) Gonsorowski; his beloved sister, Marlene (John) Flenner; his nieces and nephews, Tyson, Rachel, Andy, Kai (Mike), and Isaac (Erin); many great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
