Janis B. Lorenzen, 80, of East Grand Forks, passed away, Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Riverview Memory Care of Crookston.

Janis B. Paulson was born June 11, 1942 in a barn in Walsh Co., ND to Joseph and Veronica (Janikowski) Paulson. She grew up and went to school in Stephen, MN and on June 30, 1962, married Stephen Lorenzen there. They made their home in East Grand Forks where they were blessed with 3 children. She worked various waitress jobs when she was younger but loved cooking at the Friday night fish fries at the VFW. They were members of Sacred Heart Church where she taught Sunday School and spent much time volunteering. She was a member of the EGF VFW and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary as well as the Eagles Aerie 350. She loved fishing and camping and made sure she taught her children how to clean a fish. She loved her grandkids, enjoyed bingo, cards, and a cold beer.

She is survived by her children Veronica Skavlem of East Grand Forks, Richard Lorenzen of East Grand Forks, and Stephen "Stevie" Lorenzen of Oklahoma City, OK; sister Linda Staskivige and brother Richard (Marilyn) Paulson both of Drayton, ND; sisters-in-law, Jane (Herman) Barta and Mary (Buzz) Burns of St. Thomas, ND; and grandchildren Sam and Joey of Yukon, OK.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Veronica Paulson, husband Stephen Lorenzen, brother Joey Paulson, and sister Julia Celia Paulson.

FUNERAL LITURGY: 4:00 PM, Thursday, January 12, 2022 at Dahl Funeral Home, 2029 Central Ave. NW, East Grand Forks, MN 56721. Funeral will be live-streamed on Janis' page at www.dandahlfuneralhome.com.

VISITATION: 1 hour prior to funeral on Thursday at the funeral home
