Joan R. Waldera, age 84 of East Grand Forks, MN, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, MN.

Joan Ruby Waldera was born on December 5, 1934 in Rutland, ND the daughter of Cecil and Olga (Anderson) Malady. Joan grew up and attended school in Rutland, ND. On December 22, 1954 she was united in marriage to Leonard Waldera in Fargo, ND. Following their marriage they moved to Fargo where she was a waitress at Oak Manor. They moved to New Hampton, IA where she worked at a clinic. They moved to Cable, WI and there she cleaned cabins. They moved to Grafton, ND where she was a stay at home mom. They then moved to Cando, ND and she was a secretary for Leonard's propane business. She moved to Thief River Falls, MN. Sadly in July of 1998 Leonard passed away. Joan was employed at the Super 8 Motel in Thief River Falls before retiring and moving to East Grand Forks, MN.

Family members who survive Joan include her children, Terry (Donald) Hanson of East Grand Forks, MN, Ron (Jill) Waldera of Rolla, ND, and Cheri (Mike) Vergal of Grand Forks, ND; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; one sister, Shirley (David Shue) Barseth of Minneapolis, MN.

She is preceded in death by her husband Leonard; parents; brothers, Harald and James Malady.
