Karla Harstad, 60 of East Grand Forks, MN died Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Karla Kay Kozel was born July 11, 1966 in Grafton, ND the daughter of George and Wilma (Hewitt) Kozel. She grew up in Minto and graduated from Minto High School in 1984. She attended Grand Forks Hair Designer's Academy and worked for Cost Cutters, Valley Elder Care and Valley 4000 as a hair dresser. She also worked as a CNA for Tufte Manor. She married Kevin Harstad in Las Vegas, NV on February 10, 1998.

She is survived by her husband, Kevin Harstad of East Grand Forks, MN; parents, George & Wilma Kozel of Minto, ND; sister, Julie (Mike) Barksdale of East Grand Forks, MN; father & mother-in-law, Kam & Kathy Harstad of East Grand Forks, MN; and brother-in-law, Kent (Lorie) Harstad of Merced, CA.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Lee Kozel; maternal grandparents, William & Edna Hewitt; and paternal grandparents, Anthony & Elizabeth Kozel.
