Obituary

Kyle Jule Deziel , 40 of Grand Forks, ND passed away peacefully in his home on August 18, 2025. Kyle was born on March 19, 1985 in Grand Forks, ND. In Kyle's early years he loved to play hockey with his brother and friends at Stauss Park. In his later years, he enjoyed fishing with his family, especially at Lake Kabetogama with his brother. He was an avid Minnesota Gopher and Minnesota Vikings fan. Hockey never left his system with him following the Minnesota Wild and he loved to call his dad to chat about the games. He treasured his time spent with his sister, Kaylie and Rolando be it watching football or fishing down at the river. Kyle had been a dedicated employee with the Grand Forks County Highway Department for many years following in his father's footsteps.

Kyle will be remembered for his kind heart, his love of his cats who met him at the Rainbow Bridge, his witty personality, and last but not least: his "smack-talking."

Kyle will be forever loved and immensely missed by his parents, Michael (Julie) Deziel and Deborah (Larry) Gaddie; his siblings, Casey Deziel and Kaylie (Rolando Rivera) Deziel; his nephews he enjoyed so much, Brooks, Blake, and Santino. He is also survived by his grandmother, Jean Landvik; his special friend, Liz Lindquist; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Kyle was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald and Margaret Deziel, and Norman Landvik; his uncle Richard, uncle Rodney, uncle Donnie, and uncle Norman.

Family would like to share a poem written by Kyle in 2023:

Adrift

Adrift, a boat, rowing against a headwind,

careless waves.

Can't see land, afraid, moving somewhere.

Never looking up, always rowing.

Waiting for the bow to touch solid ground.

Searching for something to tether to.

Still searching for solid ground and a spot

to tether.

-Kyle Deziel
