Louise Farrell
November 28, 1941 — March 6, 2020
Grand Forks
On March 6 th , 2020 at 7:15 AM, surrounded by her loved ones, God took Margaret "Peggy" Bakken Farrell out of her pain to be with her loved ones in Heaven.
Peggy was born November 28 th , 1941 in New Jersey to Margaret "Marge" Martin (Hartmann) and Steven Martin. She was raised by her mom and Step-dad Robert Jackson. She grew up in New Jersey where she loved going to the ocean and Clementon Park.
In 1960 Peggy married Dean Ash and moved to Crookston, MN where they had 2 daughters Karen and Sandra. While living there Peggy was one of the first meter maids and went on to work at Jiffy Fry until her and Dean went their separate ways. She married Bruce Bakken in 1972 they moved to East Grand Forks, MN where they had 1 daughter Kelley. Peggy worked at American Crystal Sugar from 1975 where she worked as a beet house operator. Everyone stopped by for treats as she always had a dish of candy for everyone. She then moved to the knife filing area until she retired in 1999. She met her current husband Patrick Farrell while working at Crystal Sugar they married July 31, 1995.
In her younger years she loved riding horse and trap shooting. She also loved to cook especially "Italian Food" since she came from the east coast. She loved gardening, painting, and spending as much time with her family as she could. She was also an animal lover and even took in many strays over the years or made sure they had food and shelter.
Peggy wasn't your typical mom she was always very open with all of her family about anything and everything you wanted to know. She also was big into music loved Queen, Adam Ant, Guns and Roses and Bon Jovi. Her one request for all of us was when she passed we have a party not a funeral and make sure we play "Another One Bites the Dust".
Peggy is survived by her husband Patrick (Grand Forks); brother Bob (Dolores) Jackson (Pennsylvania); sister Stephanie Martin (California); daughters, Karen Storey (Grand Forks), Kelley Bakken (Grand Forks); son-in-law, Rodney Cariveau (all over USA); 5 grandchildren, Tiffany Storey (Grand Forks), Shane Storey (Fargo), Kyle Cariveau (West Fargo), Theresa Bakken (Grand Forks), Zach Cariveau (Moorhead); great-granddaughter, Kaci Ness (Grand Forks); 5 step-children, Sean Farrell (Minot), Lee Farrell (Crookston), Corey (Amanda) Farrell (St. Paul), Matthew Farrell (Bismarck) and Heather Farrell (Bismarck); 8 step-grandkids and 5 step-great-grandkids.
