Obituary

Marla Hoff, Grand Forks, passed away unexpectedly early Friday morning July 27th on her 69th birthday. She was born in Montana to the late Herman "Dude" Shook of Miles City, MT and Helen Lala (Anderson) of East Grand Forks before moving to Grand Forks as a child. She was a caring woman who always seemed concerned of others needs and placed them before her own. She was very proud of her children and their families. She often called each of them just to say "Hi" and ask how they were. Her enjoyments included watching her birds and ducks in her courtyard, tending to flowers and plants, going out to eat, attending sporting events of her children and grandchildren, celebrating holidays and taking care of her family in general.

Marla was a bookkeeper at Poppler's Music Store for most of her career and then Valley Memorial until her retirement.

Survivors include her children Kelly (Dale) Solberg, Scott (Lori) Hoff, and Bryan (Sarah) Hoff. Grandchildren: Brittany, Abby, and Brandon Solberg of Grand Forks and Justin, Dylan, and Caden Hoff of Green Bay WI. Great Grandchildren: Lily and Brooklyn. Her sister Wanda Burke and several other distant relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Laurie, brother Jeff, and her very special and dear friend Michael "Doc" Emmerich.

Marla was a strong woman who overcame and endured many difficulties through life. She takes with her a piece of our hearts, leaving a void that will never be replaced. We Love You Mom!!
