Monica (Houdek) Perkerewicz, 87, Grand Forks, ND, formally of East Grand Forks, MN, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20th, 2023.

Monica was born on May 30, 1936, on the family farm near Vessleyville, ND, the daughter of BC and Anna (Schanilec) Houdek. She married Raphael Perkerewicz on September 27, 1955. They started their family in Milwaukee, WI, with a short stay in California before returning to the area and settling in rural East Grand Forks, MN. After Raphael passed away in 1978, Monica moved with her children to East Grand Forks. Monica worked 28 years at American Crystal, retiring in 2001. She had an amazing inner strength and a witty sense of humor. She enjoyed Sunday dancing at the American Legion and had a weakness for ice cream.

Monica is survived by her children: Harry (Lori) Perkerewicz, Fisher, MN; John Perkerewicz, East Grand Forks, MN; Janet (Scott) Hulst, Gilby, ND; Jackie (Jim) Anderson, Grand Forks, ND; and Joy (Dan) Sparr, Alexandria, MN; son-in-law, Mike Rogalla Sr., Fargo, ND; 22 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; her sisters: Cyrilla Perkerwicz, Fridley, MN; Germaine Bosh, Lakota, ND; Margaret (Lloyd) Johnson, Shakopee, MN; and Barbara Sobolik, Grafton, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raphael; daughter, Carole Rogalla; daughter-in-law, Pam; great-grandchildren: Josie, Rocky, and Romeo; brothers: Clement (Florence), Alphonse (Olivine), and Arnold; sister, Marie (Donald) Pich; and brothers-in-law, Chester Perkerwicz, Joe Bosh, and Vic Sobolik.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 200 3rd St. NW, East Grand Forks, MN 56721. Funeral service will be live-streamed on Monica's page at www.dandahlfuneralhome.com
