Obituary

Ronald "Ronnie" Ray Gregoire, 80 , of Grand Forks, North Dakota, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved ones, on June 25, 2026.

Ronnie was born on December 20, 1945, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Donna Gregoire and Raymond Laasko. He was raised in East Grand Forks, Minnesota by his grandparents, Emile and Edna Gregoire, alongside his aunt and uncles who he lovingly referred to as his "bruncles".

In 1968, Ronnie married his first wife, Jill and together they were blessed with two children. In 1996, he married Suellen and joyfully added her two children to his family. Ronnie was fortunate to watch his family grow and treasured the time he spent connecting with half and full siblings.

For most of his career, Ronnie worked as a lineman for the East Grand Forks Water & Light Department. In his free time, he could often be found watching Nascar and Gunsmoke, fishing, cooking, tackling home improvement projects, and socializing. He also enjoyed his years playing in bowling and softball leagues for many years. Some of his fondest memories were made with family and friends at the lake and while traveling. He loved the lakes and mountains and enjoyed watching wildlife.

More than anything, Ronnie will be remembered for the joy he brought to those around him. His wonderful sense of humor was truly one of a kind, and he had an incredible ability to make people laugh. He had a special way of finding humor in everyday moments and had a gift for making life more enjoyable. People were naturally drawn to him because of his warmth, kindness, and playful spirit.

Ronnie had a big heart and cared deeply for his family and friends.  His laughter, compassion, and the countless happy memories he created will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Laasko and Donna Gregoire; his grandparents, Emile and Edna Gregoire; uncles Walt and Paul Gregoire; and his aunt, Laverne Gregoire.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Suellen Gregoire; his children, Wendy Gregoire, Chad (Melissa) Gregoire, Karla Shane, and David (Nikki) Shane; his grandchildren, Elyse Gregoire, Jessica Shane, Falyn (Corben) Shane, Alexandra Shane, and Gavin Reese; his great-grandchildren, Shane, Gabbi, Mason, Ayanna, Caiden, and Hayes; uncle Phil (Linda) Gregoire; numerous siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ronnie's legacy is one of love, laughter, family and friends. He leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
