Ruth L. Basgaard, 93, of East Grand Forks, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Edgewood Vista in East  Grand Forks.

Ruth Lillian J Lysfjord was born August 14, 1930 in Kennedy, MN to Conrad and Clara (Hokanson) Lysfjord. She was raised and educated through the school in Kennedy, graduating from high school in 1948. Immediately following high school she moved to Grand Forks and attended Aaker's Business College. There, she met the love of her life Burrell "Bud" Basgaard and they were married on New Year's Eve 1950. They lived briefly in in Ozark, AL, while Bud was in the Army. They made their home in East Grand Forks in 1951 and were blessed with three children. She worked at the ND State Mill in Grand Forks, Phoenix Budget Loan, MN License Bureau and Altru Hospital and they were active members of Our Saviors' Lutheran Church of East Grand Forks. They enjoyed fun and sun at their cabin on Cass Lake, MN, wintering in Mesa, AZ for more than 15 years.  Ruth was an avid reader, walker all year round, loved playing cards, especially bridge, and enjoying time with her family.

Ruth is survived by daughter Taunja (Kyler) Meers of Cold Spring, MN and their children Kyja (Michael) Malone and their children Lillian, Elliot and Violet; Kendra (Ben) Stalpes and their children Kaylin, Ashton, Barrett and Casen; Connor (Antonio) Meers; son Todd (Liz) Basgaard of East Grand Forks, MN and their children Chad (Jackie) Basgaard, Katie (Chad) Thorson and their children Lane and Judd, Megan (Mike) Hanson and their son Zach, son Steffan (Kim) Basgaard of Bemidji, MN and their children Whitney(Derek) Benson and their daughter Kenzie and Krista (Nick) Beiswenger and their children Tenley, Reed and Teagan and sister-in-law Betty (Don) Roberts of Grand Forks, ND. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bud Basgaard, parents Conrad and Clara Lysfjord, great-granddaughers Charlotte and Cora Thorson, brother Charles Lysfjord, sisters Caroline Keyes and Rhoda Gallagher, father-in-law and mother-in-law Walter (Lydia) Basgaard and nephew Jay Roberts.

FUNERAL: 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church 1515 5th Ave. NW, East Grand Forks, MN 56721. Service will be live-streamed through Our Saviors Website.

VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral at Church on Wednesday.
