Ruth Theresa (Vanyo) Lindgren, age 93 of Keosauqua, IA, formerly of Tabor, MN, passed away on Saturday, November 30 ^th , 2019 peacefully at home.

Ruth, daughter of John and Anna (Sabol) Vanyo, was born July 20, 1926 in Northland Township, Polk County, MN. She attended various country grade schools in the Tabor, MN area, graduated from Alvarado High School, and attended Central High School in East Grand Forks where she took a teacher training course. Ruth taught country school for eight years, prior to her marriage to Harley Lindgren on August 11, 1953 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in East Grand Forks. While Harley was in the Army, they lived in New Jersey and Maryland. Upon his transfer to Tokyo, Japan, Ruth returned to Minnesota. After his military service, they moved to California where they lived for 35 years. When Harley retired, they moved back to Minnesota for 21 years and finally to Iowa for the last 7 years.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 66 years, Harley of Keosauqua, IA, 9 children: Joanne Lindgren (Raymond Balli) of CA, Patricia Ames (Milton) of IA, Mary Gardner (Jeff) of CA, Barbara Volz (James) of CA, Edward Lindgren (Lisa) of CA, Thomas Lindgren (Mary Kathleen) of CA, James Lindgren of CA, Yvonne Figueroa (Juan) of CA, and Walter Lindgren (Vicki) of ID as well as 17 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and brother-in-law Donald Swartz. She is preceded in death by her sisters Gertrude Kotrba, Cecelia Kovar, Helen Kliner, and Annella Swartz, brother Norbert Vanyo, and 2 grandchildren.

Graveside services have been held and she was interred at Resurrection Cemetery in East Grand Forks on June 17, 2020. Mass and a celebration of life will be held at a later time.
