Shirlene Sinjem, age 84, of Grand Forks, ND passed away on Friday January 12, 2024, at Valley Senior Living in Grand Forks.

Shirlene was born on October 29, 1939 in Provo, UT. She was the fifth of nine children born to David T. and Ruby (Luke) Nelson. Shirlene grew up and attended school in Provo, later moving to Grand Forks where she met Dennis Marvin Sinjem. On March 10, 1967 they were united in marriage. Together they enjoyed traveling, spending their winters in Arizona and the rest of the year visiting their children and grandchildren in Minnesota. Shirlene enjoyed bowling, cross stitch, Dairy Queen, and watching Utah Jazz basketball. She especially loved to have a cup of tea and spend time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter LaVonne "Bunny" (Darin) Verke; son Darin (Jamie) Sinjem; daughter-in-law Bonnie Sinjem; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren with one more on the way; and sisters Roberta and Joyce.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Dennis; son Jason; brothers David, Joe, and Owen; and sisters Beverly, Marie, and Anna May.

Shirlene's family would like to thank Valley Senior Living and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
