Shirley J. Norland , 86, of Grand Forks, ND died Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at the Valley Senior Living Center, Grand Forks, ND.

Shirley Janet Norland was born November 10, 1935 in Park Rapids, MN the daughter of Wayne and Lucille (Wetherall) Willett. She and her family moved to the Park Rapids, MN area until they moved to Olney, MT. Shirley moved back to Humboldt, MN in 1951 to help on the farm of her Uncle Victor Younggren and Aunt Verla. She graduated from Northwest School of Agriculture, University of Minnesota, Crookston with the class of 1954. On June 25, 1954 she was united in marriage to Earl Norland in Lancaster, MN. They lived in the Humboldt, MN and Hallock, MN area until 1981 when they moved to Perham, MN. Shirley moved to Grand Forks in October of 2017 to reside at Parkwood Senior Living Center.

Shirley is survived by children, James (Gail) Norland of Detroit Lakes, MN, Daniel Norland of St. Louis, MO, Julie (Ronald) Nokelby of East Grand Forks, MN, Scott (Sara) Norland of Oak Grove, MN; 8 grandchildren & 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Rodger, Asher, Karen, Marlene, and Virgie; sister-in-law, Verna Lyberg; many cousins, nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; parents; brother, David Willett; sister, Darla (Robert) McCullough; uncle & aunt, Victor & Verla Younggren; father & mother-in-law, Harry & Clara Norland; brother & sister-in-law, Dennis & Ruby Norland; sister & brother-in-law, Harriet & Lloyd Farbo; brother-in-law, Andy Lyberg; and brother-in-law, Eric Gamble.

Graveside Memorial Service will be 11am on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Riverview Memorial Gardens, 611 Central Ave, Lancaster, MN. Following the burial, there will be a luncheon at Sion Lutheran Church, 301 Central Ave, Lancaster, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Riverview Memorial Gardens, Lancaster, MN, or your local Hospice.
