Shirley M. Wild (5/6/36 – 1/4/26)
Born Shirley Mae Magnusson in Milton, ND passing from this life on Jan 4, 2026, held in loving care by her children until the angels came for her. She learned to be a kind and loving person in this world from her parents, Thorlaug (Finnson) and Gudmunder Adalsteinn 'Alli' Magnusson, her siblings, neighbors and friends. She passed this, along with the love of nearly everything Icelandic, on to her children, grand and great grandchildren.
As a young widowed mother, she worked outside the home while raising her children, welcoming their friends into their home as well. She remained very proud of her accomplishments in service with the USPS, starting as a temp / seasonal worker and retiring as Postmaster of the Mandan, ND PO.
She will be welcomed into the afterlife by her parents, husband, Thomas J. Wild, sons Gregory Ross and Kenneth Randall Wild, siblings and spouses Leola (Milt) Larson, Viola (Earl) Main, John (Lois) Magnusson, Einar (Doris) Magnusson, Lola (Frank) Mollner, Cecilia (Lorn) Dunnigan, Thorey (George) Green plus many loved nieces & nephews and lifelong friends who went Home before her.
Cherishing & keeping her memories alive on earth will be son, Joseph Thomas (Julie) Wild, daughters, Wendy Elizabeth Wild and Geneva Marie (Dan) Hjelmen; Grandchildren: Chad Miller, Stacy (Kurt) Lawler, Merrilee (Matt) Forgit, Benjamin Moe, Dustin Hjelmen, Carley (Mike) Smith; Great Grandchildren (Many who don't yet know how to swear in Icelandic) Rylee (Emily), Reagan, and Ryan Lawler; Olivia, Peter and Patrick Forgit, Mercedes and Malayah Williams, Killian Smith, Baya and Jaxten Hjelmen.
In accordance with her wishes, a graveside service for immediate family only will be held at Calvary Cemetery in GF spring 2026. Friends & Family are welcome to join us for a Celebration of Life memorial service on 8/2/2026 at Fjalla Church, Milton, ND at 1:00 pm..
