Steven L. Vonasek, age 72 of East Grand Forks, MN passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at his home.

Steven Lee Vonasek was born on October 22, 1953 in Grand Forks, ND the son of Carl and Helen (Thompson) Vonasek. Steven grew up and attended school in East Grand Forks, MN and graduated from East Grand Forks Senior High School with the Class of 1971. Following his high school graduation, he attended Moorhead Technical College. In his youth, he worked at the Spud Bar in East Grand Forks as a bouncer. On December 8, 1984 he was united in marriage to Elaine Boushee at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grand Forks, ND. He then worked for McKinnon Company for 37 years. He also worked for Old Dutch and Wells Concrete before retiring in 2013. During his retired years, he enjoyed working for the Polk County, MN Highway Department.

He was an on-call firefighter for the city of EGF for 15 years. He belonged to the American Legion and Knights of Columbus. In his early years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Later in life, he followed his children's sporting events closely, ensuring the refs were making the right calls. He loved being a Dad and being a grandpa was a bonus blessing as he loved to play and tease them.

Gifted with the art of conversation, Steven could easily bring joy and laughter to the room, creating a warm atmosphere where people felt as if they had known him forever.

Family members who survive Steven include his wife of 40 years, Elaine Vonasek of East Grand Forks, MN; children, Michael (Stephanie) Driscoll of Bismarck, ND, Nathan Vonasek of Grand Forks, ND, Paul (Laurie) Vonasek of Asheville, NC, Lucas (Sarah) Vonasek of Minneapolis, MN and Brooke (Gerardo) Zapata of Tacoma, WA; 6 grandchildren, Nathan, Arlo, Kenley, Georgianna, Theodore and Little Stevie; brother, Daniel Vonasek of Grand Forks, ND. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Helen Vonasek; brothers, Ricky, Tommy and Robbie Vonasek; parents-in-law, Benny and Laurene Boushee, brother in laws, Robby and David Boushee, sister-in-law Teresa Doten, and his many friends and their treasured memories together.

Memorial Service: 2:00 PM on Friday, December 5, 2025 in Dahl Funeral Home, 2029 Central Ave. NW, East Grand Forks, MN.

Visitation: 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday, December 5, 2025 in Dahl Funeral Home.

Inurnment: Resurrection Cemetery, East Grand Forks, MN in the Spring of 2026.
