Obituary

Tami M. Strandell, 60, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2021 due to liver disease while waiting for a liver transplant.

Tami Marie Melbostad was born to Charles and Shirley (Boushee) Melbostad on June 25, 1961 at Deaconess Hospital in Grand Forks , ND.  She was raised in rural East Grand Forks, MN and attended school in East Grand Forks graduating with the Class of 1979.  After high school, Tami attended the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities and in Crookston, majoring in Fashion Design and Business Management.  Upon graduation, she managed So-Fro Fabrics and the UND Bookstore, until beginning her full-time career as a homemaker.  In 1983 she was united in marriage with Robert Strandell in Grand Forks, ND.  Bob and Tami spent their lives raising their three children in the Grand Forks/East Grand Forks area.  Tami loved to find a house in need of some love and restore it into its original glory.  She did so with four homes over the years, her pride and joy being their 1901 farm home in rural Fisher, MN.

Tami loved planting a seed and watching it grow, whether that be her many vegetable and flower gardens or seeds of faith she planted in the many children she taught in children's ministry over the years.  The most important things to Tami were Faith, Family, and Love through service.  She was also an avid youth sports fan and hauled her three children to their many activities throughout the years and cheered them on, just as she did as a cheerleader in her high school years.  She continued this as a grandma and rarely missed one of her grandkids' games, concerts, or grandparents' day.

Tami also loved the great outdoors and never missed an opportunity to spend a day on the lake or in a deer stand.  She cherished those times with her husband and children while they were growing up and in recent years her grandchildren.

Loving family members who survive Tami include her husband of 37 years, Robert Strandell of rural Fisher, MN; children, Anna (Tyler) Dumas of rural East Grand Forks, MN , Lane (Amy) Strandell of rural Nevis, MN, and Levi Strandell of rural Fisher, MN; 7 grandchildren, Elliana, Tyler, & Josephine Dumas, Lyric, Talia, Sorren & Cecelia Strandell; Sister: Michelle (Gerald) Erickson, Brothers: Danny and Jeff Melbostad; brothers-in-law: Paul Flaa, Stuart (Roba)Strandell, Michael Strandell; sisters-in-law: Wynell (Tracy) Marquis, Lori (Don) Wason, Kim (Nick) Nellos;  many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Tami was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, sister Melody, niece Summer, and mother-in-law Rose and father-in-law James.
