Willard Stieg , age 85, of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Altru Hospital.

Willard Milton Stieg was born December 6, 1937 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Edward & Ella Stieg. On May 13, 1956 he was united in marriage to Lois Lieder in Loretto, Minnesota. Willard and Lois traveled the United States and other overseas countries during Willard's time in the United States Air Force. Willard had a distinguished 29-year career and received several military honors including two Meritorious Service Medals and three Air Force Commendation Medals. Willard had nine different assignments in the USA and abroad, culminating with his retirement in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. He is also retired from the Post Office. Willard was united in marriage to his current wife, Jean Jeffrey, on May 13, 2016. Willard was active in River Heights Lutheran Church where he was a devoted member, serving in several leadership positions, including Congregation President, Vice President, Financial Secretary and Elders.

Loving family members of Willard include his wife, Jean of East Grand Forks; children, Julie (William) Renner of Spanaway, WA, and Richard (Stacey) Stieg of Fruitport, MI; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward & Ella; wife, Lois; children, Robert, JoAnn, and Joyce; and siblings, Edward and Mildred.

VISITATION is from 5:00 – 7:00pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30pm on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at River Heights Lutheran Church, 2214 10th Avenue NW, East Grand Forks, MN.

FUNERAL SERVICE is 1:30pm on Monday, November 27, 2023 at River Heights Lutheran Church, also with a Visitation 1 hour prior. Service will be livestreamed here on Willard's obituary page.

INTERMENT at Resurrection Cemetery in East Grand Forks with Military Honors.
