Obituary

William “Bill” Neuerburg, 83, passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, surrounded by loving family.

William Carroll Neuerburg was born February 6, 1943, in St. Paul, MN to Carroll and Loretta (Lang) Neuerburg. He grew up in West St. Paul, attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Grade School, and Henry Sibley High School. After High School, he proudly served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1964. He added an associate’s degree in business administration from Aaker’s Business College, which he used to help him in his career as a contractor. He was self-employed, taking various jobs in construction, carpentry, remodeling and painting for his own company, N & Y Painting.

On March 30, 1968, he married Linda Stauss in Watertown, SD. They recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. The two moved to East Grand Forks where they began their family. Together they raised four sons and welcomed ten grandchildren.

During his life in East Grand Forks, Bill was very sociable and loved being the life of the party. He was a lifelong member, and sometimes officer, of the VFW and American Legion. In his spare time, Bill loved golfing, spending time at the cabin at Cass Lake, collecting silver and gold coins, tools, and comic books. He had a profound love for his grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his wife Linda, his sons William (Lacey), Aaron, Brandon (Beth Tepper), and Cale (Cynna) Neuerburg; grandchildren Colton, Nash, Knox, Lake, Meadow, Nathan, Aiden, Kadynn Melquist, Tenley, Brooks “Butch” Neuerburg and two sisters, Doreen Carlson and Sally Johnson, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Carroll and Loretta (Lang) Neuerburg.
